Introductions

Postby EcosocRap09_Berni » Sun Oct 18, 2009 11:30 am

Dear Delegates,

my name is Berni Reifeld and I will serve as Rapporteur to the ECOSOC this year. I am currently a sophomore from the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin. This is my first time as Student Officer and I am very excited! As far as hobbies go, I love music, sports or simply socializing. I also enjoy travelling with my friends or reading interesting books, that are not for school :).
If you have any questions relating to any of our topics, there are going to be separate threads, where you can "pre-lobby" with your co-delegates or pose questions and be sure that there'll be 53 other delegates or 3 chairs to help you! Please use this opportunity right here to introduce yourself briefly and get to know other delegates. It suffices to put your name, position, age and a few hobbies.

I wish you lots of fun in your preparations and the actual conference, which we are all already looking forward to :).

Hello Delegates,

my name is Kevin Kurz and I am representing Uruguay in the ECOSOC. I am attending class 11 at the Anne Frank School in Berlin and currently serving as its student council president. I enjoy doing sports, above all swimming, I'm interested in politics and a member of the Christian Democratic Party of Germany. Though I am representing a rather small country I look forward to an outstanding coorperation in our committee.

Dear delegates,

Hi everyone! I am Tolga and it's my sophmore year at Robert College of Istanbul in Turkey. So I am 16 years old, and I'll be representing Brazil in the ECOSOC. Personally, I like traveling, swimming and listening to music. However, MUN comes first as a hobby :) Even though it is my first time in Bermun, I know it will be an amazing one. I look forward to meet all of you!

Other than that I have a little problem about the system and I wonder if you all have it as well: I cannot open up the ECOSOC link in BERMUN's official website. However, the others such as political, environment are accessible. Furthermore, the first topics of the forum and the website are different. One is about the "Rules for Global Welfare" and the other is about "modernizing global institutions". I didn't quite understand it, and I'll be glad if you can write about that.

Best wishes...
Tolga Gidener / delegate of Brazil

Hi Everyone,

My name is Tenzin Sekhon and I am currently in 13th grade at the John F. Kennedy School. This year, I have the honour of serving as President of the ECOSOC. This won't be my first time chairing, but it will be my first time in the ECOSOC, which I was always interested in both as a delegate and chair but never was a part of. Apart from MUN, I enjoy sports and play cricket, soccer, and basketball. Every once in a while, I met dig up my old skateboard ang for a cruise in the city. I also love music, and play two instruments (Alto Sax and Guitar). I am sure that this year's ECOSOC will be a great experience for me and am eagerly awaiting the opening of this year's conference.

Now, to reply directly to Tolga's question: I must apologise for the difficulties you have experienced with the committee information. The topic that you see as our third thread in this forum, namely "modernizing global institutions...", is the topic we will be debating. This year's procedures will be slightly different, and this topic, which we will debate and hopefully pass a resolution on, will then be further debated in the greater context of the topics of the G20 summit in the General Assembly on Saturday. So, just to make this clear, we will debate this topic in the ECOSOC and hopefully pass a resolution. This resolution will then be passed on to the GA on Saturday, and they will use it as a recommendation and an enhancement to their debate and the issues they will be debating. About clicking on information, this hasn't been possible yet because of the topic change, which still has to be mentioned and elaborated upon in our website letter. So don't worry about that information, it will follow shortly. And once again, thanks for asking, and I apologise for the difficulties you have experienced and for having confused you with the topics.

Should any of you have any other questions, please feel free to ask them and I will gladly answer them.
Apart from that, I'm looking forward to seeing everybody in November!

Hello everyone!
My name is Feline Moje, I'm 17 years old and living in the beautiful city of Hamburg. Because I will have my final exams in february, this will be my last BERMUN, where I have the honour to serve as Deputy President of the ECOSOC. As this will be my first time chairing I'm more than exited and really looking forward to meet all of you at the conference!
Although school work is getting more and more , I still enjoy what Hamburg has to offer. Meaning concerts, plays, poetry slams.. I'm playing the tenor-sax and music makes a big part of my life - any ideas what this year's BERMUN soundtrack will be ?
Since september I'm enjoying my yoga-lessons and recommend it to everyone stressed!

Please don't hesitate to post your questions in this forum, so that there won't be any confusion about the topics or procedure.
Of course you can mail your questions as well: feline-moje@gmx.de
I'm very exited to meet you in a few weeks and I'm sure we will have an outstanding time at BERMUN '09!

All the best,
Feline Moje

Hey everyone,

I am glad to see everybody getting active in the forum! Of course, you can also tell your friends about this cool thing for getting touch and lobbying (with which you should also commence in the other threads);)
As you might have also noticed, the bermun.org website has been adjusted (thank you tolga for making us aware) and this is just for clarification: we are not drafting a recommendation, but a resolution instead about Modernizing Global Institutions in Order to Adequately Reflect Today’s Global Economy, functioning as an advisory document to the GA in their G20 deliberations.
Should you have any other questions please feel more than free to approach one of us!

Regards,

Berni Reifeld

Hey everyone!
My name is Melody and I am currently in 12th grade at Huntington Beach High School in California, USA. I will be representing Greece in the upcoming conference, and I am having trouble getting the topic descriptions to upload on my computer. Is anyone else unable to get them?? The other delegate from my school in this committee can't get them either, so we are having a hard time preparing resolutions without any knowledge of what the presidents of this committee are looking for. I just thought I'd see if anyone else was having similar troubles and I look forward to meeting everyone soon! :D

The Website topic info for the ECOSOC should be up on the website by the end of this weekend. Once again, I sincerely apologise for the delay!

I will post a message in this forum once it's up :)

Introductions

Postby jjustyna » Mon Nov 16, 2009 5:57 pm

Hello everybody!

My name is Justyna and I am 18. I go to Szczecin International School in Poland. I will be representing Cameroon in the ECOSOC committee. To be honest I am pretty nervous about this conference because I have never taken part in anything like it before. But since I am a very optimistic person I think it will be fun ;) In my free time, which I must say I don't have much, I like to read, dance and spend time wiht my friends. My favourite writer is Harlan Coben, his books are amazing. :) I used to live in The Netherlands for two years in a vilalge called Budel, however most of my time I used to spend in Eidhoven where my school was and all of my friends. I enjoy meeting people from other countries because I can listen to stories about their countries, which are very interesting most of the times ;) I am looking forward to meeting you all :)

Bye for now ;) and see you soon :)
